Cinema In Verde is coming to its third edition at the Rome Botanical Garden from 18 to 21 September this year, and a new call for competing films is now open. The festival’s artistic-scientific committee is looking for six new international feature films to compete for the Golden Ginkgo 2025.
This is an open call addressed to directors, production and distribution companies, and film industry professionals. Only completed narrative feature films are eligible to apply. The films must relate to environmental themes, have been produced within the last two years, and must not have been previously screened in Italian film circuits. Short films, documentaries, and other non-fiction works are not eligible.
In the spirit of Cinema In Verde, we are looking for stories that put the environment at the center, focusing on the fight against the climate crisis, the intersections with social issues—everything that can captivate the viewer and provoke reflection.
Director Paolo Virzì, president of the 2024 jury, stated during the awards ceremony: “There is a problem with how environmental themes are narrated, which is why it is right to encourage storytelling that concerns everyone.” We are searching for stories that inspire hope for a better future. Does your film tell them?
